In Matthew 7, Jesus shares an important lesson about the foundation of our lives. This teaching called the parable of the wise and foolish builders, is a powerful metaphor for our choices and what they are built on

Building on the Rock (Wise Man)

The wise man is not merely a passive listener but actively listens to the Lord’s teaching and does what He says. Building a house on the rock signifies more than a physical structure; it symbolizes a life founded on obedience to Jesus' words and a steadfast commitment to following His teachings.

This foundation is crucial when life's challenges, portrayed as rain, rising streams, and strong winds, come our way. A house built on the rock remains unshaken—a testament to our security when we align our lives with Jesus and His unwavering truth.

Jesus and His word are the ultimate foundation, offering security and guidance. His teachings are not mere suggestions but the path to a life of fulfillment and purpose because we are under His care. We need the strength that only He can give

 Seeking the Lord

Building a firm foundation requires seeking the Lord and His direction. He wants us to seek and find Him so He can lead and guide us with His strength.

Jesus said, Ask, and it will be given to you: when we pray and ask God for something, We can trust that God will respond and provide what is best for us. As we grow in our relationship with Him, we learn more about His will for us and better understand what to pray for.

Seek, and you will find: Beyond mere asking, we are encouraged to actively seek a deeper understanding of God, truth, and righteousness. The promise is that those who earnestly seek and pursue a relationship with Him will find Him.

As we strive to draw closer to the Lord, Jesus opens the door. Knocking on the door represents approaching God and seeking His presence. As we do so, we have the assurance that He opens the door for those who persistently seek Him, ask for His guidance, and pursue a relationship with Him

Building on the Sand (Foolish Man)

In Contrast, the foolish man hears the words of Jesus but fails to put them into action. When confronted by the same adversities—rain, rising streams, and strong winds—the house built on sand collapses with a resounding crash. It’s a reminder that a life without a solid foundation is susceptible to destruction.

The lesson is clear—a call not only to hear the teachings of Jesus but to actively live them out. It highlights the significance of a foundation grounded in obedience and commitment to Jesus, rejecting a superficial or complacent approach to faith.

The metaphor of rock and sand vividly paints a picture of the difference between a secure, lasting foundation and one that crumbles in the face of life's storms. Our choices in constructing our lives determine whether we sink or stand secure.

We must be intentional in our choices, opting for the solid ground of obedience and commitment to Jesus, ensuring that our foundation is unyielding in the face of life's challenges
